ROARING with KINDNESS!
We had a blast on Saturday, October 17th, in the ISU Homecoming Parade. We had the best time with all of our “Kindness Bengals”. Boy, weren’t they all so entertaining, it was fun just seeing them all have so much fun! We had many great parents and my hubby, handing out our new Book bag Kindness Buttons. Thank you to all the parents that allowed their children to ride on the float and join us. I also want to thank all of our friends for painting faces all their faces, walking the parade handing out buttons, and for car pooling us. We appreciate all the love and support. We had a GREAT day with friends and family and appreciated all of your KINDNESS! Pocatello/Chubbuck finally got to experience the “Community Kindness Movement” as they ROARED!

I have finally finished the planning of Kindness Day that is celebrate each month in school. We established every 3rd Thursday being Kindness Week, your school can do what fits best with your school schedule. For Pocatello/Chubbuck School District and other Community Schools, the best part about participating in the same day is to bring more “Unity” to all the kids in our Community. They will all see each other in their Kindness T-shirts and the Community will see more “Kindness” on those days. We also have local businesses out in the community participating and wearing their Kindness T-shirts on these days. So, it’s a Community Kindness Day. I encourage your school to join the “Kindness Movement” if you can on that day.
What an amazing journey I have been on for the last six months. It will take me some time to document it all, talk about adversity I faced, along with amazing triumphs I was able to experience, and discuss the valued lessons I have learned to prepare me for my next mountain that I choose to climb. This will take some time to do, but I look forward to telling my story and sharing the full report in the future. It’s been 4 days since the Mrs. Idaho pageant and I am feeling like I am finally getting back into the swing of catching up where Kindness Week left off. I have a few Kindness assemblies to plan for schools, Kindness T-shirt orders to fill and distribute, Kindness Day Annual Planning Calendar to finalize, the ISU Homecoming Parade float put together and plan, and so much more. So, once life seems to settle a bit more, I will be able to tell my story and talk about the pageant as well and my entire experience.

This was an interview question asked of me in my interview by one of the judges at the pageant,
“What do you think Success is?”
I can’t express how amazing it is to see Yellow Kindness T-shirts every where I go around town. Their on children and adults. It’s an amazing sight to see. I have had a chance to experience student receiving their Kindness T-shirts at school and the excitement it creates. I also had to the chance to experience two entire elementary schools all in Kindness T-shirts last Friday. Their principal wanted to get an entire school picture to hang up in their school. I thought that was amazing idea!! But, as I got to witness the behaviors of the students, I noticed how that all had instant smiles on their faces, I could tell it made them feel happier and in turn, it made me feel happy. That’s what Kindness does. Kindness is also contagious, so I knew that no matter what each school would be influenced by the Kindness that was started.
I received many wonderful comments from parents and I appreciate those comments. I also received “Thank You” notes from students, they were very cute and made me smile. I could tell that the t-shirt made our children feel like they were apart of something bigger then themselves. Going through town and seeing Yellow crossing the streets, Yellow all over the playgrounds, Yellow all over town, it just made me feel that all the efforts of many had paid off. Our children were being influences, their homes were being influenced, and I hope that it will continue.
KINDNESS WEEK PROCLAMATION SIGNING
On September 02, 2015 the Kindness Week Proclamation was signed by Pocatello Mayor Blad and Chubbuck Mayor England, with the Bannock County Commissioners Manwaring and Anderson, with Hadley approval (missing). Mrs. Pocatello 2015, proposed a Kindness Week Proposal for the Cities and County to recognize for September 21st-27th 2015. Mrs. Pocatello, Melissa Nelson, her family, the Kindness Movement Supporters, and Local Business Supports were there to witness the Kindness Proclamation Signing. The reading of the Proclamation was done at the Pocatello City Council on September 17th, 2015 at 6pm.
It was WONDERFUL seeing all of you and your children in Yellow Kindness T-shirts throughout the entire day. Many of your children told me they LOVED the Kindness Video that they saw at school and were so surprised that they got their own Kindness T-shirt. I could feel the excitement in their voices. I hope you all enjoy the locally produced Kindness Video. PLEASE SHARE so our entire community has a chance to see what our local kids have done, you all would be so proud.. They did such an amazing job! Kindness is contagious, so please pass it on..

I want to thank our Sponsors for their generosity in funding 6000+ Kindness T-shirts for all our Elementary Schools in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District. I can’t thank them enough for their efforts in helping our students in Bullying Prevention. Our Community businesses are being Model of Kindness by doing this. We are still looking for businesses that are willing to sponsor, so we are able to fund more Kindness T-shirts for our Middle and High Schools and other Public Schools. We are getting closer to funding our first Middle School with the Donation efforts to our GoFundMe and with our Community T-shirt Fundraiser “Buy 1, Give 1” – Thank you for your support. Please Donate if you can, every dollar counts! The Kindness T-shirts will be worn all throughout Kindness Week Sept. 21-27th, but also EVERY MONTH in School on every 3rd Thursday. Some schools are even going to wear them more often and use them as their school pride T-shirts, since every student will have one to wear. That is amazing, for all students will feel included and able to participate in this. Not every child can afford a T-shirts and by doing this, we give all of our students the chance to feel like they are all unique, but truly can come together as “One”.

We did it! Our family proposed a Kindness Movement and had a Kindness Week Proclaimed for the City of Pocatello, Chubbuck, and Bannock County! Thank you for all the support and for everyone that attended. All that matters is that we all find a way to be more kinder, to have empathy for others, consider a change-of-heart when kindness is performed, and to teach our children the importance in being kind.
